KITCHEN APPRECIATION FEE
Dear Guests,
Since opening Democracy Brewing, we have always strived to create a place where workers earn enough money to live with dignity and are able to attain the dream of owning their own business.
With the rising costs of living, paired with Boston being one of the most expensive cities in the US, we have been evaluating ways to improve our business model that balance the best interest of both our customers and workers.
Like many restaurants across the country, we have decided to implement a 3.5% kitchen appreciation fee to all checks.
While we could simply raise our prices and bury this cost in our menu items, we want to be open about where your money is going: every penny of this 3.5% fee goes directly to our kitchen workers. This will be a tremendous help in providing a better living wage and a more equitable distribution of money.
As a worker owned company, this is one of the many changes we plan to implement over the years to improve living and work conditions for all our workers. We are truly grateful for your support, and thank you for your continued patronage. Please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss this change.
